The Uncharted series is one of the best all-around action-adventure experiences you can have in video games. However, this doesn’t mean there aren’t other games that are like Uncharted in one or more ways. Whether it’s the historical lore, the parkour-style movement, the storytelling, or the heart-pounding combat, there are games out there that allow you to have a similar experience to the ones you have with Nathan Drake and Sully.

Of course, it can be slightly difficult to figure out what some of those games might be. Fortunately, today we’re going to be listing our picks for the 10 games that are most like Uncharted. All of these games share at least one definable aspect with Uncharted, but most of them share more than just one similarity.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy

Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy

  • Developer: Crystal Dynamics
  • Release Date: December 1, 2023
  • Platforms: PC

Tomb Raider is the closest game you’ll see to Uncharted. The Tomb Raider franchise stretches back to the ’90s and served as a clear inspiration for the Uncharted series. While you can play the older, blockier versions of Tomb Raider, if you want a true Uncharted-like experience, you want to grab the Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy. This trilogy features all three of the most recent Tomb Raider games, including Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. As a whole, these are fantastic games, allowing you to play as the famous Lara Croft as she hunts for historical artifacts and treasure all over the globe with a small team behind her. You’ll parkour, partake in combat with handheld weapons, guns, and bows, and explore some truly stunning locations filled with puzzles and unique places to see. These three games also put a big emphasis on story, making them like Uncharted in more ways than one.

The Last of Us Part I

The Last of Us Part I

  • Developer: Naughty Dog
  • Release Date: June 14, 2013
  • Platforms: PlayStation 3, PS4, PS5, PC

It’s only natural that we include Uncharted developer Naughty Dog’s other major game franchise on this list. The Last of Us has become a global sensation thanks to the HBO television adaptation, but the series began as one of the best action-adventure games in the 2010s, winning the Esports Awards’ Game of the Year award in 2013. While The Last of Us doesn’t feature any Nathan Drake-esque parkour or stunts, it does have fairly similar combat and world-building elements. There’s also an added emphasis on stealth, as you have to navigate a world full of zombies and dangerous humans. Of course, it’s hard to bring up The Last of Us without talking about the story. Be prepared for some truly heart-wrenching and thrilling moments throughout the journey of protagonists Joel and Ellie. While The Last of Us and Uncharted are different games at their core, you’ll see the same DNA sprinkled in.

God of War (2018)

God of War (2018)

  • Developer: Sony Santa Monica
  • Release Date: April 20, 2018
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PS5, PC

The pattern of games that began as PlayStation exclusives continues with God of War. Specifically, the 2018 revamp that sees protagonist Kratos, the fictional God of War in Greek mythology, take on gods and creatures from Norse mythology. Similar to Uncharted, there’s a massive emphasis on history and lore in God of War. Whether you read about that lore while exploring the Lake of Nine and its realms or listen to stories from Mimir, your disembodied head of knowledge, the game ensures that you’re able to soak up tons of Norse mythology along your journey. God of War is a semi-open world game that highly encourages exploration. You’ll be able to visit several stunning locations across the Nine Realms and meet dozens of characters from Norse mythology, including Thor and Odin. Traveling with Kratos is his son, Atreus, and the pair team up in combat together. God of War is a positively world-class video gaming experience that makes you feel deeply connected to its characters and world.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment
  • Release Date: April 28, 2023
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC

You might not expect a game set in the modern world and one set in the fictional universe of Star Wars to share too many similarities. However, you’d be surprised by how alike Uncharted and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are. Both games tell expansive, deep stories, allow you to freely explore open zones within their worlds, and offer advanced movement and combat capabilities. Jedi: Survivor follows the story of Cal Kestis, and the game is a continuation of Jedi: Fallen Order. As Cal, you get to fly your spaceship to different planets, unlock new abilities, and take advantage of a few combat styles, most of them involving your trusty lightsaber. Jedi: Survivor offers a fantastic story, engaging combat, and several maps to explore.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

  • Developer: Eidos-Montréal
  • Release Date: October 26, 2021
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch

We have another game set in space, and this time it’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Once again, if we’re comparing the game to Uncharted, you have to look at the broad scope of Guardians of the Galaxy to see the similarities between the two. Guardians of the Galaxy follows the adventure of the galaxy’s strangest anti-hero crew as they become embroiled in a threat that could destroy the universe. The game mostly sees you play as Peter Quill, or Star-Lord, but you can take advantage of the entire Guardians team in both combat and exploration. Each member of the crew has a unique ability that comes in handy at one point or another. Perhaps the best part about Guardians of the Galaxy is the back-and-forth relationship between all of the members. You’ll hear quirky dialogue, witness hilarious cutscenes, and develop an emotional bond with the characters throughout the story. It’s a lot like Uncharted in how it tells its story and showcases its characters, and it’s definitely worth a 15-20 hour playthrough.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

  • Developer: MachineGames
  • Release Date: December 9, 2024
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC

If you want an action-adventure steeped in history, then look no further than Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It features an original story that’s separate from any of the movies in the franchise. As you might expect, you play as Indiana Jones as he goes on a mission all over the globe in search of the famed Great Circle and its ancient power. Taking place in 1937, you can make a weapon out of just about anything you can pick up, and of course, you always have Indy’s whip at your disposal for combat and exploration. The game takes you to Italy, Egypt, the Himalayas, Shanghai, and more locations. There are dozens of puzzles to solve in these locations during the main story and side adventures that Indy documents through his journal. With thrilling combat and a story that takes you into ancient ruins and through fascinating history, Indiana Jones is a terrific action-adventure game that scratches a similar itch to Uncharted.

Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima

  • Developer: Sucker Punch
  • Release Date: July 17, 2020
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PS5, PC

Ghost of Tsushima is an easy suggestion for any fan of Uncharted. The two games are both action-adventure thrillers that give you a look at historical locations. In Ghost of Tsushima, you’re thrust right into the middle of history, as the game takes place during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. You play as Jin Sakai, a samurai who attempts to protect his homeland from the invading Mongols. Ghost of Tsushima allows you to explore a fully open world, making it a slightly different gameplay experience from Uncharted’s set level design. However, what doesn’t change is the beauty of the landscapes, the engaging combat you can find yourself in, and the crisp movement mechanics.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Release Date: October 19, 2013
  • Platforms: PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch

While there’s not an overwhelming amount of piracy in the Uncharted series, Uncharted 4 does dabble in that area. If you particularly enjoyed that part of the game, then Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag should rocket to the top of your wishlist. Black Flag is a thrilling pirate experience that sees you sail the expansive Caribbean sea as pirate Edward Kenway. With your ship and crew, you can battle other sailors in truly remarkable ship combat, as well as search for buried treasure, go shark-hunting, and listen to sea shanties as you sail. Of course, you’ll also spend a lot of time on land, and Black Flag has plenty of puzzles and unique missions to keep you engaged for the duration of your journey. Assassin’s Creed gives you more freedom than Uncharted, but Black Flag is a close experience to the adventures of Nathan Drake.

Marvel's Spider-Man

Marvel’s Spider-Man

  • Developer: Insomniac Games
  • Release Date: September 7, 2018
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PS5, PC

It’s time to talk about another former PlayStation exclusive. Marvel’s Spider-Man is a fantastic adaptation of the web-slinging hero and features some of the best movement mechanics you’ll find in any video game. Swinging around New York City with your webs and flying through the downtown air is an experience you’ll have a hard time matching. The story in Marvel’s Spider-Man will be recognizable to any fan of the comics, but it’s still captivating nonetheless. You’ll also see some fast-paced melee combat mixed with Spider-Man’s unique abilities that will make you want to take down every thug in the city. While it’s open world and features mostly melee combat, Uncharted fans will still enjoy the storytelling and movement of Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Alan Wake 2

Alan Wake 2

  • Developer: Remedy Entertainment
  • Release Date: October 27, 2023
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC

Alan Wake 2 doesn’t offer any of the flashy movement or free-form combat that you see in the Uncharted games. However, what it does offer is one of the best video game stories in recent memory, an engrossing protagonist and cast of characters, and an atmosphere that will always have you on your toes. Alan Wake 2 follows the story of protagonist Alan Wake, a horror writer who has been trapped in an alternate dimension since the events of the first game. To escape his prison, Alan Wake must write a new horror story to alter the world around him. There are a few jump scares, but the true horror of Alan Wake 2 is the potential scariness of what could happen next. If you liked Uncharted for its story and world-building, then you’ll want to make Alan Wake 2 your next playthrough.
