2025’s best-sellers
The latest Circana monthly sales report for video games in the US has been released, providing an updated look at 2025’s best-selling games so far in the US. This data runs through May, so we don’t yet have Switch 2 games or any June or July releases. Monster Hunter Wilds remains the No. 1 overall best-selling game of the year, although May did bring with it two new games that have cracked the top 20.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows had been No. 2, but The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has now overtaken it as of the end of May. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and MLB The Show 25 round out the top five.
Xbox, which made news recently with major layoffs, has four games in the top 16, with Doom: The Dark Ages having entered the charts. But it’s Take Two with six which has the most games in the top 20, thanks in part to the remarkable longevity of Grand Theft Auto V.
There are some key caveats to be aware of. This list includes physical and digital sales data, but not from every publisher. For example, Nintendo does not share digital sales data for any game released on its platforms. Also of note is that the list is ranked on dollar sales, not unit sales. The list also does not include revenue from sales of any add-ons for games, nor does it account for popularity on a service like Game Pass.
