A new Resident Evil game is in development, and it’ll be putting a strategy twist on the franchise. In production at JoyCity Corporation, the mobile game is being developed in close collaboration with Capcom, and it’s titled Resident Evil Survival Unit. Announced at Anime Expo, the full reveal for the iOS and Android game will be held on July 10 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET.
JoyCity Corporation says that it’s aiming to appeal to both longtime fans and new players to the franchise, and it has reimagined the survival-horror aspects of Resident Evil into a real-time strategy experience optimized for mobile devices.
Beyond this new venture into mobile gaming, the Resident Evil series will also return next year with a new entry in the mainline series on PC and console. Resident Evil Requiem was revealed last month, and the game features a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft.
The daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the franchise’s first multiplayer game, Resident Evil Outbreak, Grace is tasked with investigating a mystery that ties into the overarching narrative that began with the original trilogy of Resident Evil games.
Her investigation leads her to Raccoon City–the infamous city that was destroyed in a missile strike to contain the T-virus outbreak–where she’ll have to confront the ghosts of her past.
