Mario Kart World gives you the option to switch up your style instead of forcing you to wear the same old overalls or dresses in every race. Outfits and costumes are mostly reserved for the major characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, etc. However, some side characters, such as King Boo and Shy Guy, also have a few different choices. Below, we’ll show you every outfit in Mario Kart World and how to unlock them all.
There are 50 Mario Kart World characters to unlock so far, and over 100 costumes spread between them all. Main characters like Mario tend to have up to 10 outfits, while characters like Lakitu have around two or three.
To unlock new outfits, you need to eat specific food items. For example, Mario’s Touring outfit is unlocked when you eat burgers while driving around as Mario. Eating food immediately puts the new outfit on your character and unlocks the outfit in the racer selection screen for future use. Some costumes can be unlocked through multiple foods, but we’ve listed all the ones we’ve confirmed.
There are drive-through stations near several tracks where you’ll see glowing take-out bags to the side of the road. Drive through those bags to pick up a food item, then use it to obtain a new outfit. The most efficient way to unlock all outfits is to enter Free Roam and go to the location that contains the food you want. Then, switch characters to eat that one food item multiple times, unlocking all outfits for the specific characters who need to eat the same food. Touring Mario
The Touring Mario outfit can be unlocked by eating a burger, which can be found right next to the Mario Bros. Circuit starting line.
Dune Rider Mario
The Dune Rider Mario outfit is unlocked by eating any food item from the Yoshi’s drive-through in Desert Hills. Drive forward from the starting line and turn left off the main road to find the drive-through.
Sightseeing Mario
The Sightseeing Mario outfit is unlocked by eating any pizza, ice cream, or fish and chips. Pizza can be found on Yoshi’s trucks driving around Crown City. Ice Cream can be found by driving forward from the Crown City starting line, then turning right after passing the Warp Plaza building. Fish and chips can be found at a food truck in Koopa Troopa Beach if you turn left just before the starting line.
Cowboy Mario
The Cowboy Mario outfit is unlocked by eating any snacks from the Yoshi’s in Whistletop Summit. Turn left just before the starting line to find a Yoshi’s drive-through hidden next to two item blocks.
Aviator Mario
The Aviator Mario outfit is unlocked by eating an item from the food truck on the Airship Fortress. Drive forward from the starting line to board the airship. Then, turn right and drive to the highest area on that side of the ship to find Toad in a food truck with a Yoshi’s sign above it.
Mechanic Mario
The Mechanic Mario outfit is unlocked by eating a snack from the food truck at Dry Bones Burnout. Drive forward from the starting line and turn right to find Toad in a Yoshi’s food truck.
All-Terrain Mario
The All-Terrain Mario outfit is unlocked by eating donuts, which can be found on Choco Mountain or Peach Stadium. Yoshi’s trucks drive around the Choco Mountain track, and they carry food items. And there’s a food truck in the roundabout in front of the starting line at Peach Stadium that has donuts as well.
Pro Racer Mario
The Pro Racer Mario outfit can be unlocked by eating cake at Peach Stadium. Drive forward from the starting line until you reach a roundabout with four food trucks in it. The truck on the northwest side has the cake you need.
Happi Mario
The Happi Mario outfit can be unlocked by eating taiyaki or candied apples, and both food items are found at Cheep Cheep Falls. Drive past the starting line, then immediately turn around to see the food stalls higher up to your left.
Touring Luigi
The Touring Luigi outfit can be unlocked by eating a burger or ice cream. Pizza is found right next to the Mario Bros. Circuit starting line, and ice cream can be found in Crown City next to the Warp Plaza building.
Oasis Luigi
The Oasis Luigi outfit can be unlocked by eating any food item from the Yoshi’s drive-through in Desert Hills. Drive forward from the starting line and turn left off the main road to find the drive-through.
Gondolier Luigi
The Gondolier Luigi outfit is unlocked by eating any pizza or snacks. Pizza can be found on Yoshi’s trucks driving around Crown City. For the snacks, turn left just before the starting line in Whistletop Summit to find a Yoshi’s drive-through hidden next to two item blocks.
Mechanic Luigi

Vacation Peach
The Vacation Peach outfit is unlocked by eating Whistletop Summit snacks or any food item from the Yoshi’s drive-through in Desert Hills. Drive forward from the Desert Hills starting line and turn left off the main road to find the drive-through. The All-Terrain Donkey Kong outfit can be unlocked by eating a burger or several other foods, since it’s his only costume. Burgers can be found right next to the Mario Bros. Circuit starting line.
Burger Bud Toad
The Burger Bud Toad outfit is unlocked by eating a burger or pizza. Burgers can be found right next to the Mario Bros. Circuit starting line, and pizza can be found on Yoshi’s delivery trucks driving around Crown City.
Explorer Toad

The Explorer Baby Rosalina outfit can be unlocked by eating any food from Yoshi’s drive-through in Dino Dino Jungle. Drive past the starting line and take the road to the right. Yoshi’s is there on the left side of the road.
