Obsidian’s bug-fighting survival game returns with Grounded 2, where you’re once again faced with a Honey-I-Shrunk-The-Kids moment in the dangerous outdoors. In this sequel, you’re fighting to survive Brookhollow Park, a larger, more diverse space than the first game’s backyard. You’ll have plenty of locations to explore here, including the game’s new Ranger Outposts. These points-of-interest contain crucial tools for your survival. Here we’ll guide you to all the Ranger Outposts in Grounded 2 and discuss the benefits of each location.
Ranger Outpost: Snackbar
Grounded 2’s tutorial will introduce you to the game’s Research Analyzer machine, which allows you to scan resources you scavenge in the world to learn helpful new crafting recipes. When the tutorial ends, your first objective marker leads you to your first outpost. This is called Ranger Outpost: Snackbar.
This location, as well as all Ranger Outposts, will have a Research Analyzer and a Ranger Station. This Snackbar location has the Ranger Station out of reach in a locked room, but we have a full guide for helping you unlock the Omni-Tool and gaining access to this Ranger Station.
Other outposts will have other various bonus accommodations, such as beds, water coolers, and customization workbenches.
Unlike many survival games, the game won’t kick you out of these locations at night. You can hide out here if you need a breather, heal up, or strategize with co-op buddies. I wouldn’t always assume these locations are fully safe to go AFK, though. More than once I was attacked by lawn mites inside the Snackbar outpost, but I’ve been completely safe in all of the other outposts so far.
Ranger Outpost: Ice Cream Cart
The Ice Cream Cart Outpost contains the Ranger Station and Research Analyzer. It also has beds, a water cooler, and a storage chest with resources.
Ranger Outpost: Trash Bags
This location has the expected Ranger Station and Research Analyzer. Additionally, it also has a water cooler, snacks, bandages, and a storage case with various resources.
Ranger Outpost: Ceremony
This location has the expected Ranger Station and Research Analyzer. It also has a water cooler and a storage case with various resources. There is a locked room we haven’t been able to access yet.
Ranger Outpost: Fire Pit
This location has the expected Ranger Station and Research Analyzer. Additionally, this outpost has beds, a water cooler, storage chest with resources, and basic items such as sap and bandages. If you’re far from your base, this can be a good place to rehydrate, analyze some resources, and sleep through the night if needed.
Ranger Outpost: Pine Hill
This outpost has the normal bells and whistles: The Ranger Station, Research Analyzer, and storage chest with resources. Also, it has workbenches for customizing the style of your gear. You can upgrade the appearance of your SCA.B 2K for 1 Red Ant Part and 1 Bee Stinger, and you customize the look of your Omni-Tool for 1 Bombardier Part and 1 Blueberry Leather.
Ranger Outpost: Statue
This has the normal equipment, but the Statue location also allows for customizing the style of your gear. Just like the workbenches at the Pine Hill location, you can upgrade the appearance of your SCA.B 2K and Omni-Tool. This outpost doesn’t offer additional options. It requires the same resources for the same cosmetic upgrades. Of course, it’s possible more customization could arrive post-launch.
For more tips and tricks, make sure to check out our Grounded 2 guides hub, which includes how to find grubs, how to upgrade weapons and armor, and more.
Ranger Outpost: Rose Garden
Ranger Outpost: Rose Garden is located by traversing the dangerous and O.R.C-filled territory within the Statue POI. You want to weave through the concrete slabs until you reach the rose garden on the southeast portion of the area.
This outpost has the normal equipment, but it also includes a water cooler and storage container with resources. There is also a locked door we haven’t been able to access yet.
Ranger Outpost: Flower Bed
This outpost has the normal equipment, a storage container, and tons of snacks. You can also scan your SCA.B at the terminal next to a locked door at the back of the outpost. This will let you exit from Ominent’s Statue: Northern Accent location, which was previously unavailable to you. This will give you an alternative route to entering and exiting the Statue POI.
