All Transformations In Donkey Kong Bananza And How To Unlock Them
Donkey Kong Bananza marks the first time in over two decades that we’ve seen our favorite big ape in a 3D platformer. So, it goes without saying that Nintendo wanted to go all out with DK’s return to the third dimension, offering players an absolutely staggering amount of creative gameplay and wacky mechanics to enjoy. And that’s why you’ll spend a lot of your time punching through materials–but you’ll even get to transform into a variety of other creatures along the way. Yeah, it’s a pretty wild ride.
There are a total of five transformations in Donkey Kong Bananza, each one providing our big, hairy hero with unique abilities he can use for a limited time. You’ll get all of them by meeting giant elders during the core campaign, and you’ll need to use them to complete both main and optional objectives throughout the game world. So, don’t worry about missing any of them–just focus on enjoying the time you spend transformed!
Even better, you can swap between transformations while in Bananza mode by pressing the D-Pad left or right, letting you string together each of their unique abilities when the time comes. By mastering the Bananza mode and knowing when to switch to these different transformations, you’ll find that you’re an unstoppable force of nature!
Below are all five of the transformations available in Donkey Kong Bananza, what they do, and which elder you’ll meet to get them during the campaign.
Kong Bananza
The Kong Bananza turns Donkey Kong into an even more powerful ape with the power to bash his way through most types of terrain with no issues.
You’ll obtain this Bananza power early in the game by meeting the Kong Elder.
Zebra Bananza
The Zebra Bananza turns Donkey Kong into a speedy zebra with a whole lot of momentum, allowing him to run across water, ice, or crumbling pathways with ease.
You’ll obtain this Bananza power partway through the game by meeting the Zebra Elder.
Ostrich Bananza
The Ostrich Bananza turns Donkey Kong into an ostrich that can fly and drop egg bombs on enemies. We’ve never seen an ostrich fly before, but we’ve also never seen an ape bash through walls and surf on rocks, either, so we’re not going to read too much into it.
You’ll obtain this Bananza power partway through the game by meeting the Ostrich Elder.
Elephant Bananza
The elephant Bananza turns Donkey Kong into an elephant that can suck terrain in through its trunk to save for later use, whether that be throwing it to create pathways or solve puzzles, or even holding the material like a handle on a zipline.
You’ll obtain this Bananza power late in the game by meeting the Elephant Elder.
Snake Bananza
The snake Bananza turns Donkey Kong into a snake that lets you jump much higher than usual by using its tail like a spring. You can double-jump and even charge-jump to get to heights you can’t otherwise reach. Additionally, this Bananza grants you access to the Glare ability, which lets you slow down fast-moving obstacles.
You’ll obtain this Bananza power late in the game by meeting the Snake Elder.
