While today’s Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Livestream Event focused on the ways we’ll be playing the game with friends, there were a few teasers for the other ways we can enjoy Battlefield 6 later this year. Along with a hint that the battle royale mode Operation Firestorm is coming back, EA and DICE provided a brief teaser for the single-player campaign, and it sounds like things in the world of Battlefield 6 aren’t great.

The 30-second clip centered around a woman explaining what’s happening in her world at the moment. She says the world as it was once known has “crumbled,” and that “alliances that have held since World War II” are “gone.” She pivots to say that “every crisis is an opportunity” before finishing with a quote from Game of Thrones–“chaos is a ladder.”

Information provided by EA and DICE after the teaser aired shed a little more light on the specifics of Battlefield 6’s story: The game takes place in the year 2027, and it will drop players into a world shaken by a high-profile assassination that has all but dismantled NATO. Trying to fill the void is Pax Armata, a massive private military corporation with “deep pockets and the latest tech.”

The multiplayer trailer for Battlefield 6, meanwhile, highlighted the franchise’s destructible environments in multiple chaotic scenes. The trailer also confirmed the return of classic Battlefield soldier classes–Assault, Medic, Support and Recon–as well as class-specific weapons and gadgets.

Battlefield 6 is set to launch October 10 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. An open beta test has been confirmed for two sessions, one scheduled for August 9-10 and the other for August 14-17.
