You’ll find hundreds of different texture packs for New Vegas on Nexus Mods, but none is more expansive than the NMCs Texture Pack. This mod changes close to every single graphical element in the game, including roads, landscapes, interiors, buildings, a variety of different objects, and more. You’ll have to download another graphical mod to see changes to weapons, characters, and clothing, as this texture pack focuses on the larger elements that you see on the map.

Weapon Mods Expanded - WMX

Weapon modding is a fun and easy way to upgrade your character’s arsenal in New Vegas, but the system can be fairly limiting. With the Weapon Mods Expanded mod, you can take your in-game modding to a whole new level. The mod allows for every single weapon to have the maximum number of three mod slots, including unique weapons that usually have strict mods equipped on them. The mod also makes weapon modding more streamlined, adding new functionality to the system, and allows you to find more weapon mods when looting.

More Perks

The perk menu in New Vegas is chock-full of interesting additions and bonuses for your character, but it never hurts to have more options to pick from. The More Perks mod gives you over 120 new perks to choose when you level up in New Vegas. These perks work the same way as the ones in the base game, but they expand well beyond the scope of what most base perks offer. You can unlock perks that completely change how your character is perceived by other characters, grant new abilities, and alter the overall flow of your playthrough.

Nevada Skies - Weather Effects

Nevada Skies – Weather Effects

  • Created by: Yossarian and Anro24
  • Download link: Nexus Mods

There’s really only one weather type in New Vegas: hot and dry. Fortunately, the Nevada Skies mod completely changes that and adds over 400 new weather types to the game. These include rain, lightning storms, dust storms, and many more that you’ll have to contend with throughout your playthrough. The mod allows you to fully customize the weather experience from inside the game, giving you control over what kinds of weather you see and how often they appear.

Project Nevada

Project Nevada is an all-encompassing mod that makes a flurry of different, quality-of-life changes to Fallout: New Vegas. However, it also adds an abundance of new content as well, turning the game into something entirely different. To start, Project Nevada adds core features such as a dynamic crosshair, the ability to sprint, enhanced stealth capabilities, and much more. With those features in place, the mod also adds content such as Cyberware, allowing you to install technological implants on your character that perform a variety of actions, and makes a slew of changes that aim to turn New Vegas into a more challenging game overall. Project Nevada doesn’t stop there, but you can read everything else the mod adds and changes by visiting its page on Nexus Mods.

A World Of Pain

A World Of Pain

The wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas is properly named since there’s not a ton to see or do in between visiting the major locations on the map. The A World of Pain mod aims to rectify that, adding close to 170 new locations that are spread out all across the Mojave. All of these locations come with enemies, loot, and unique layouts that make for a new adventure every time you visit one. You’ll also find fresh quests and characters in these locations, adding even more content to your New Vegas adventure.

New Vegas Bounties also has two sequel mods that add more bounties and characters.

Unlimited Companions

Like the Bethesda RPGs it spins off from, Fallout: New Vegas limits the number of companions that can accompany you throughout the wasteland. However, with the Unlimited Companions mods, you can completely bypass that restriction. The mod places no limits on how many companions you’re allowed to travel with, making it so you can have a full party of characters behind you at any given time.

Interiors Project opens two dozen interiors across the Mojave, allowing you to explore the insides of previously unknown buildings. With the opening of these interiors, you get access to two new vendors, as well as a handful of quests and a heap of additional loot.

Weapons of the New Millenia

Weapon mods for Fallout: New Vegas are some of the most popular on Nexus Mods, but most of the mods only add a single weapon to the game. The Weapons of the New Millenia mod adds over 40 weapons, giving you your pick of the litter when it comes to kitting out your arsenal. Some of the added arsenal includes the AK-47, Combat Shotgun, Desert Eagle, FAMAS, and many more iconic weapons from video games and real life.

FPGE - Functional Post Game Ending

After you complete whatever quest route you chose for the endgame of Fallout: New Vegas, you’ll see some text on the screen that provides a rundown of how your choices affected the world. Once that’s over, you can return to that save, but only to the point before the final quest. If you’ve ever wanted to see the world following the final quest, you can download the FPGE mod, which allows you to experience the consequences of your actions in New Vegas. You’ll also be able to complete any side quests that are still available and visit some locations across the map that have been changed as a result of your actions.

New Vegas Heap Replacer

The New Vegas Heap Replacer is another quality-of-life mod that makes a few changes to the engine and allows your game to run much more smoothly. The mod aims to decrease your load times when entering a new location, remove most stutters, and improve your overall frames per second. There are some incompatibilities with the mod, which you can read about on the mod’s Nexus Mods page, but for the most part, this should help you with any performance issues you previously had in New Vegas.

Monster Mod

  • Created by: Dogtown1
  • Download link: Nexus Mods

If you’ve played enough of Fallout: New Vegas, you might have grown tired of seeing the same enemies pop up all around the Mojave. The Monster Mod solves this repetition issue, adding over 100 new creatures to find and fight across the map. These are either completely new enemies that you’ve never seen before, or they’re based on existing creatures, but have new models and textures to make them look new. Every monster added with this mod respawns after you kill them and waits for a certain period, allowing them to consistently pop up on the map for you.

Beyond Boulder Dome

Beyond Boulder Dome

  • Download link: Nexus Mods

The Beyond Boulder Dome mod is a DLC-sized addition to Fallout: New Vegas that allows you to journey to Boulder, Colorado in the Fallout universe. The mod features a completely new questline, fresh characters, and a map built from scratch. You’ll also find new weapons, armor, and enemies in Boulder, making it seem like you’re playing an entirely new game. When you arrive in Boulder, you’ll be greeted with a realistic storyline for the mod’s quests that fits in with Fallout lore. Overall, Beyond Boulder Dome offers hours of gameplay that you can’t find elsewhere in New Vegas.

Populated Casinos

New Vegas features a variety of interactable casinos, but more often than not, the locations aren’t too populated with NPCs looking to do some gambling. With the Populated Casinos mod, every casino across the Mojave is humming with life. You’ll see dozens of NPCs at the casino tables, walking around the floor, or standing to the sides, talking with one another. The mod adds a layer of realism and immersion to the casinos, but it doesn’t change anything about the casino games themselves.

Underground Hideout New Vegas

Have you ever wanted a place to call your own in Fallout: New Vegas? If you have, then the Underground Hideout mod is one you’ll want to download immediately. The mod adds a bunker that’s completely yours, located near Spring Mt. Ranch State Park. The bunker comes equipped with an armory, bed, water purifier, plant garden, and everything else you’ll need to survive in the wasteland. You can even bring your companions inside the bunker, although you might not want to do that if you’re using the Unlimited Companions mod.

Diagonal Movement

While New Vegas still holds up extremely well in 2025, some of its mechanics are stuck in the stone age of video games. One of those mechanics is the game’s movement, which only allows for lateral movements when traversing the map. Fortunately, the Diagonal Movement mod frees up the movement mechanics, allowing you to move diagonally. This might not sound like a huge deal, but the before and after of using this mod is truly night and day. No longer are you bound to back-and-forth and side-to-side movements in the wasteland.

Sometimes, we have to throw realism to the wind when it comes to mods. The XRE – CARS mod might not fit into Fallout lore, but it does make your time in New Vegas much more enjoyable. The mod adds fully functioning cars to the wasteland, allowing you to speed to your destination or even run over some of the game’s more annoying enemies. You can unlock a variety of different vehicles and new vehicle shop locations as well, which allow you to retrieve lost cars, change out your current vehicle, and customize your vehicles.

Real Recoil

Anyone who has played Fallout New Vegas knows how quirkily its weapons can act when you fire them. Gunplay isn’t one of the game’s strong suits, but the Real Recoil mod makes significant changes to these mechanics. The mod adds smooth and realistic recoil to your weapons, making it so you can accurately predict where your shots are going. Recoil is based on ammunition and weapon type as well as the weight of your current inventory. With some practice using the new mechanics, you can easily master every weapon’s recoil to become a true wasteland marksman.

Brave New World

The Brave New World mod overhauls the voice acting in the base version of Fallout: New Vegas. Using the work of professional voice actors, the mod revoices close to 7,000 lines of dialogue spoken in the game. The main goal of this mod is to assign different voice actors to more in-game characters, as many of New Vegas’ characters have the same voice actor. With the Brave New World mod, though, you’ll hear a different voice for most characters in the game.

Faster Sleep-Wait

No one likes being forced to stare at a clock while you wait to finish sleeping or waiting in Fallout: New Vegas. To speed the sleeping/waiting process up immensely, you can download the Faster Sleep-Wait mod, which decreases the time you spend looking at the countdown timer.

Better Caravan

Better Caravan

  • Created by: lStewieAl
  • Download link: Nexus Mods

Caravan is one of the more underrated and forgotten aspects of Fallout: New Vegas. It acts as a mini-game, and while you do have all of the tools to start playing Caravan from the start of the game, you never really have an incentive to do so. The Better Caravan mod tries to fix that, making Caravan run much more smoothly and efficiently, as well as making the AI more complex.

Mobile Truck Base

We’ve already talked about a mod that gives your character a place of their own, but what if you need to access some of your weapons or loot on the go? The Mobile Truck Base mod provides you with a mobile house that allows you to truly take all of your possessions with you on the go. You’re able to take the Mobile Truck Base with you to over 20 locations across the map. You can store a number of different items in it to free up your carrying capacity, while still having direct access to any item you might need.

The Lucky 38 is the most iconic casino in Fallout: New Vegas, and while you do get to spend a ton of time at the location, you might ask yourself–what if you were able to run it? The Run the Lucky 38 mod gives you that chance, allowing you to assume full managerial control over the casino. You’re able to track finances, manage the different areas at the casino, hire employees to run things, and expand the Lucky 38 by purchasing more rooms. You can also access the basement of the casino, where Mr. House was said to hide some long-kept secrets.

Afterglow - Neon Illumination

We’ve talked about a texture pack mod already, but that doesn’t cover some of the finer graphics in Fallout New Vegas. The Afterglow mod enhances all of the neon signs that you’ll find in New Vegas, adding another layer of immersion to the time you spend there. With the mod, you’ll see the entire Vegas Strip lit up with bright lights and signs that make it look like the true Las Vegas.
