Valheim is one of the top survival games on the market, and there are thousands of unique mods that add features, improve upon quality-of-life aspects, and offer players new ways to experience the Norse world. While Valheim isn’t the most difficult survival game out there, it still forces players to participate in difficult combat, build architecturally sound bases, and craft items by using the entire world around them. You can use mods to enhance these existing features or mechanics, make them easier, or add unique mechanics that change up your experience.

Today, we’ll be going over our picks for the best mods to download in Valheim as of 2025. All of these mods can be found at Nexus Mods, and they’re all safe to use in-game. However, you still want to read the mod’s description and download instructions to make sure that you know exactly what you’re getting and how to correctly add the mod to your copy of Valheim.

Valheim Plus

Valheim Plus was one of the first mods to be added to Nexus Mods for Valheim, and it remains the most-downloaded mod for the game. The mod adds a slew of features and upgrades to Valheim, making it a totally different experience from the vanilla version. You’ll see changes to the gameplay systems, camera, how the map works, combat, an updated HUD, inventory management, and more. It’s the best all-encompassing mod you can download for Valheim.

Equipment and Quick Slots

The Equipment and Quick Slots mod is a simple addition to Valheim that adds dedicated inventory slots for your equipped items. This means your weapons and gear will no longer take up valuable inventory slots that you could use for resources and other loot on long expeditions. The mod also adds three quick slots that you can hotkey to whichever items you want, so you can bring out those items much faster.

Epic Loot

Valheim has a unique loot drop system, where bosses and certain enemies have the ability to drop a small amount of specific items. If you’ve been wanting a change in Valheim’s loot system, then the Epic Loot mod is what you need. This mod adds dynamic loot to the game, akin to what you see in an ARPG such as Diablo 4. Both enemies and lootable containers can drop different rarities of all sorts of loot (indicated by colors), which offer boosts and bonuses for your character when picked up thanks to new magic qualities. Now, exploration and combat have a little more excitement, as you never know what kind of loot you’re going to receive.

Craft Build Smelt Cook Fuel Pull From Containers

Easily one of the most tedious parts of Valheim is that whenever you want to craft, cook, or build something at your base, you need to have the necessary items physically in your inventory. Well, if you’re tired of sifting through every chest you own to find them, you can download the Craft Build Smelt Cook Fuel Pull From Containers mod. This mod allows you to pull any resource you need from a chest within your base’s area, so you don’t need every item in your inventory anymore. It’s a true time saver that makes base life much more streamlined.

Better Archery

Archery is one form of combat that you either love or hate in Valheim. It can certainly be janky to use at times, but if you master a bow and arrow, taking down bosses becomes fairly trivial. For any player who wants to become an archer but isn’t a fan of the current mechanics, you can download the Better Archery mod. This updates a flurry of the archery mechanics, making it far easier to use. The mod adds the ability to pick up arrows, a quiver to store arrows in, and improves aiming so it’s simpler to lock onto enemies.

MassFarming

The MassFarming mod is a terrific quality of life update for Valheim that makes the entire farming process much more efficient. The mod makes it so you can click one button to plant an entire crop of plants and then click the same button to automatically harvest all of those plants. Not only does this save you time, but it allows you to easily plot out designated spots for different plants so you don’t get confused where certain crops are.

Auto Fuel

The Auto Fuel mod adds another form of autonomous management to Valheim. This time, though, you really don’t have to do anything. The Auto Fuel mod means fireplaces, kilns, torches, and anything else that requires fuel to use will automatically take what they need from nearby chests and containers. Essentially, as long as you have usable fuel sources near the base items that take the fuel, you’ll never have to worry about manually inserting resources into your fuel-hungry base items again.

Use Equipment in Water

The Use Equipment in Water mod is perhaps the biggest quality of life mod on this entire list. It finally allows Valheim players to use their gear and equipment while in the water. No longer will you have to slog through water before being able to use your items. If you have enemies on your tail, you can lead them into some water and kill them from a safe distance instead of waiting to deal with them after you reach land.

First Person View

Valheim is only played from a third-person perspective in the vanilla version of the game. However, if you want to experience your Norse journey from a first-person perspective, you can download the First Person View mod. All you have to do is zoom in as far as possible while in third person, and you’ll see things exactly as your character does. The mod makes changes to the camera to ensure first-person view works correctly when it comes to combat, interacting with objects, base building, and more.

Hold Attack

If you’ve played Valheim on PC before, you know just how tiring it can get to continually click your mousewhile in combat or during a long mining or woodcutting session. Every time you swing your tool or weapon, you need to click your mouse. However, that stops with the Hold Attack mod. Now, all you have to do is hold your click and the game will automatically keep attacking or swinging your tool for you. Of course, there are some scenarios where you’ll need to click manually, but this helps immensely with resource-gathering and in basic combat.

Loot Multiplier

If you’re tired of needing to repeat the same actions over and over for more of the same loot in Valheim, then the Loot Multiplier mod is going to be your best friend. This mod multiplies the loot you receive, increasing the amount of a single resource you can earn from a single action. For example, you can have the mod double your logs received, meaning you have to cut down half the amount of trees for the logs you need. The mod features different multipliers you can choose from, allowing you to customize the experience to your preference.

Auto Feed

Alright, this is the final automated mod on the list. The Auto Feed mod allows your tamed and enclosed animals to automatically take food from nearby containers. This means you don’t have to manually feed your tamed wolves or any other animal you have at your base. Of course, you still have to keep the containers near your animal pens stocked with food, but the process of giving the food to the animals is now done for you.

NoStamCosts

Stamina is one of the most vital character resources that you have, as it’s used for just about any action you take in Valheim. This includes base building, clearing out crops, or doing anything else around your base. If you don’t want to have to worry about stamina outside of combat and exploration, then the NoStamCosts mod is for you. Now, your stamina won’t drain while performing actions around your base. However, you can also configure the mod to remove stamina drain from Valheim altogether.

Mount Up

Movement in Valheim can get a little taxing, as you have to run and manage your stamina whenever you want to head out on a long expedition for a boss or some resources. If you don’t want to wait to craft a lox saddle, you can download the Mount Up mod. This allows you to mount and ride one of your tamed wolves or boars. This requires you to craft a saddle for either animal, both of which are available at a much lower crafting level than the lox saddle. Also, wolves and boars are some of the first animals you encounter, so you’ll be able to have a mount from the start of the game.

Bigger Minimap Discovery Radius

If you’re someone who goes around your entire Valheim map to make sure you uncover every single bit of fog, you know exactly how unforgiving the discovery radius can be. The game makes sure you have to run over every square inch if you want to clear the area’s fog. To make exploration easier, you can download the Bigger Minimap Discover Radius mod. This does exactly what it says it does, so you can discover more of the map without needing to be so rigid in where you explore.
