Betrayal at House on the Hill’s new Pennywise-themed expansion set is available now for $25. Titled Betrayal at the Neibolt House: The Evil of Pennywise, the expansion tasks three to six players to enter the home of the terrifying clown from Stephen King’s It. The expansion is inspired by the 2019 film It: Chapter Two and arrives just a few months before the prequel TV series, Welcome to Derry, premieres on HBO Max this fall.

Stephen King fans interested in visiting Pennywise’s home will need a copy of Betrayal at House on the Hill’s 3rd Edition to experience The Evil of Pennywise. The cooperative mystery-horror game is available for $46.50 (was $56) at Amazon.

Betrayal at the Neibolt House: The Evil of Pennywise

$25 | Available Now

In Betrayal at the Neibolt House, you and up to five friends reunite in Derry 27 years after surviving Pennywise’s last attack on the sleepy town–just like in the movie. For some reason, you and your team decide it’s a good idea to explore Neibolt House, and you are soon forced to make decisions to save yourself and/or your buddies. As the title suggests, there’s a “betrayal” hook in the game. Just like in the base game, Neibolt House may be the home of a nightmare clown, but sometimes the one you really need to worry about is who you least expect.

The expansion comes with three unpainted miniature figures, including Pennywise and Pennywise Spider from that ridiculous scene from the 2019 movie. The game is packaged in a book-shaped box with pretty incredible artwork on the cover.

Here’s what’s in the box:

  • 3 Miniatures: Pennywise, Pennywise Spider, Henry Bowers
  • 1 Henry Bowers Character Book Overlay
  • 1 Plastic Character Board Clip
  • 4 Room Tiles
  • 5 Haunts
  • 10 Pennywise Encounter Cards
  • 1 Scenario Card
  • 3 Monster Tokens
  • 1 Red Balloon Token

  • 6 Miniature Bases

Avalon Hill, the Hasbro-owned board game company behind the House on the Hill series, has created multiple other crossovers that are standalone experiences. The Evil of Pennywise is recommended for players ages 17 and up, but families with younger players should check out Betrayal at Mystery Mansion: Scooby Doo Edition for $30 (was $37). There’s also a standalone Dungeons & Dragons variant called Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate.
