Earlier this year, Silent Hill 2 Remake developer Bloober Team revealed Cronos: The New Dawn, its sci-fi survival horror IP. Now, the team has revealed the game is launching this fall on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
This release window was revealed in a new gameplay trailer during today’s Xbox Games Showcase, where Cronos: The New Dawn looks terrifying. The trailer gives us another glimpse at the game’s dual setting approach – a decrepit future and 1980s Poland – where the protagonist, known as a Traveler, must dive into the past to save people from supernatural horrors that once took over the world.
Check it out for yourself in the Cronos: The New Dawn gameplay trailer below:
As you explore this world on the brink of annihilation, Traveler, an agent of the mysterious Collective, will encounter grotesque enemies known as Orphans. This trailer specifically reveals a look at the Orphan’s nest, highlighting these “twisted, body-horror monstrosities born from humanity’s darkest nightmares,” a press release reads. Players must prevent Orphans from merging – if you fail to burn enemies after taking them down, you risk them being absorbed by other foes, triggering a merging that makes the new enemy combo even stronger and faster.
The trailer also reveals some of the story behind the Predecessor – Traveler ND 3500 – and their travel log. “Players will journey through unsettling post-apocalyptic environments inspired by the existing Polish district, Nowa Huta, where decaying Brutalist architecture is warped and twisted by reality-bending anomalies,” the press release continues.
