Call of Duty’s Season 4 Reloaded update arrives in Black Ops 6 and Warzone on July 2, bringing more maps, modes, and DLC weapons. This season is themed around cartoons with plenty of cel-shaded content. Rebirth Island gets a cel-shaded makeover for Warzone, and Beavis and Butt-Head make their debut as Call of Duty’s latest IP crossover.

All the main highlights of Season 4 Reloaded can be found below, including a preview of all the new content and the cartoon-themed events.

Cartoon events

Beavis and Butt-Head, animated icons of the ’90s, will have their own limited-time Call of Duty event in Season 4 Reloaded. This will be similar to the TMNT and Squid Game crossover events, with both free and paid event passes. Paying for the premium pass will include an operator unlock for Butt-Head. A price isn’t announced for this, but if it follows recent events, the paid pass should be $10.

CODtoons is another limited-time event coming in Season 4 Reloaded, allowing players to earn rewards like rewards like the TR2 CQB Auto Conversion attachment, a themed blueprint, and weapon camo in both regular and BlackCell variants.

Two more weapons

The Olympia shotgun and the pickaxe melee weapon are both earnable in the free reward track of the Beavis and Butt-Head event.

It’s also worth noting that the Olympia is classified as in the “special” weapon category and not the shotgun class. It’s uncertain why it’s classed this way, but Activision still describes it as the “iconic double-barreled” shotgun of Call of Duty games past.

New multiplayer maps

Season 4 Reloaded adds two more maps: Eclipse and Fringe.

Eclipse is a brand-new map set inside an underground nightclub. This is a small-size Strike map for 2v2 and 6v6 playlists.

Fringe is a remaster of the popular map from Black Ops 3. This is a standard 6v6 map set within a small town with a distillery.

Cel-shaded map variants for MP

As part of the cartoon theme, the midseason update includes cel-shaded map variants for multiplayer. CODtoons Moshpit playlist will include cel-shaded variants of Nuketown, Babylon, Skyline, Stakeout, and Grind.

Party Ops limited-time mode

Party Ops limited-time mode

A new free-for-all party mode called Party Ops will challenge players to finish a randomized set of minigames and earn the highest score.

Each minigame occurs in a short time frame, and the order of the minigames is random. The mode doesn’t have a score limit and doesn’t include scorestreaks. Matches take place across Babylon, Grind, Nuketown, and Skyline, with the top-three scoring players winning the competition.

Activision says these minigames include condensed versions of Call of Duty’s classic party modes alongside new games like the Dance Off, which seems to challenge players to emote in specific zones.

This LTM playlist will also include the season’s new cel-shaded maps listed above, minus the Stakeout map.

Zombies leaderboard events

Zombies leaderboard events

The update introduces new leaderboard events for Zombies players looking to get competitive.

There will be a King of the Dead leaderboard event, where players can play a match of Zombies to get placed on a leaderboard. Once you’re ranked, getting eliminations will earn leaderboard points to climb the ladder. Additionally, special, elite, and boss enemies score more points.

The higher the placement on the King of the Dead leaderboard, the better the end-of-event rewards, but Activision says everyone earns something. The announcement is for leaderboard events, as in plural, but only the King of the Dead event is mentioned in Activision’s blog post.

Zombies limited-time modes

Zombies limited-time modes

Zombies is also getting two limited-time modes as part of the season. The Starting Room LTM is inspired by the starting room of the classic Moon map from Black Ops 1, where players are limited to only a small section of the map. This mode will be available on all Black Ops 6 maps, with each one giving a limited area for players to survive in as long as they can. The map sections will also be cel-shaded variants.

The Abomination Challenge LTM takes place on a cel-shaded version of Liberty Falls, and players must hunt down and eliminate an ultra-powered-up Abomination.

While the Abomination is the main goal, players will also be faced with the following enemies:

  • Amalgams
  • Doppelghasts
  • Elder Disciples
  • Shock Mimics
  • Toxic Zombies

The following gameplay features are disabled:

  • Save and Quit
  • Main Quest
  • Easter Eggs
  • Rampage Inducer
  • Exit Strategy (GobbleGum)
  • Idle Eyes (GobbleGum)

Rebirth Island map variant

Rebirth Island is also getting the cel-shaded treatment for Season 4 Reloaded. Activision says this variant is arriving later in the season, so players shouldn’t expect it to arrive with the launch of the big update.

Warzone Resurgence Ranked Play

Resurgence Ranked Play returns to Rebirth Island. The competitive mode will exist alongside Ranked Play on Verdansk. Resurgence will feature a separate ranking system and rewards.

Havoc Royale LTM

Havoc Royale LTM

The Havoc Royale limited-time mode features chaotic 15-minute matches with 44 players, and these take place on a limited section of Verdansk. Each circle collapse will include a different game modifier to affect the match, and players will need to adapt fast to survive.

Resurgence Casual

Resurgence Casual

With the success of casual BR modes on Verdansk, Season 4 Reloaded adds the Resurgence Casual mode, bringing bots to Rebirth Island. This mode will still follow the normal Resurgence gameplay, but the lobby is made up of a mix of real players and bots.

Just like other Casual modes, game progression is limited in this mode and results will not count toward or against player stats. This mode also won’t count toward a player’s eligibility for Resurgence Ranked Play.
