Donkey Kong Bananza Is Out July 17

Nintendo just revealed a lot about Donkey Kong Bananza, the second major first-party exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2, and released several new screenshots for it.

During the latest Nintendo Direct, which focused solely on Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo revealed almost everything we’d want to know about the game. The biggest twist compared to what we knew before is that a young version of Pauline is in the game and accompanies Donkey Kong on the entire adventure to the planet’s core. She’s not only central to the narrative, breaking series canon in the process, but key to several game mechanics.

She can sing to turn Donkey Kong into one of several “Bananza Transformations,” which can increase his strength and speed or add whole new abilities like flying. She’s also who the second player controls during co-op play. These add to an already rich move set for Donkey, who can slam through most terrain, pick up and throw around terrain chunks, and more.

These new screenshots give us a first look at all of that in addition to features like its skill point system, DK Paint, and GameShare support. If you’re excited for Donkey Kong Bananza, these 27 screenshots will give you a more up-close look at the game ahead of its impending launch.

Donkey Kong Banaza launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17. Make sure you check out GameSpot’s Donkey Kong Bananza preorder guide if you plan on picking up the game or its Amiibo.
