While Doom: The Dark Ages is the third game in the new Doom reboot trilogy that started with Doom 2016 and followed by Doom Eternal in 2020, The Dark Ages is a prequel that takes place before the events of Doom 2016, which canonically places it in the middle of the main Doom series timeline. If you’re looking to catch up on the full series before playing the new game, there’s a convenient collection available called Doom Anthology.

This collection includes Doom, Doom 2, Doom 64, Doom 3, Doom 2016, and Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition. You also get a steelbook case and a mini replica of the series’ iconic BFG weapon. The Switch version does not come with a cartridge, but the PlayStation edition includes a Doom Eternal PS4 disc.

The collection is regularly available for steeply discounted prices these days. You can buy it for all three console platforms or PC for at least 50% off right now.
