Battlefield 6 has been officially revealed, and it’s bringing the series back to the present after its foray into the future with Battlefield 2042. At launch, there will be nine maps, set in New York, Egypt, the Iberian Peninsula, and other locations.
All of the featured maps will include multiple combat zones, which EA describes as “hand-crafted and tailored to suit specific modes.” That means each map is designed to support different gameplay options.
Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush modes are all returning in Battlefield 6, along with Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, and King of the Hill. There’s also a brand-new mode called Escalation, which pits two teams against each other as they attempt to capture and control a dwindling number of strategic points on the map
Battlefield 6 preorders are already live, with some specific retailer bonuses. The game’s open beta will begin on August 7 and continue during different intervals in the month. Battlefield 6 will officially launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 10.
An early look at the nine launch maps is included below.
Empire State
The war comes home to Brooklyn, New York in the Empire State map. This is an infantry-only map that will play out across the rooftops, the alleys, and the streets.
Manhattan Bridge
Unlike Empire State, the Manhattan Bridge map isn’t limited to infantry. Players will also be able to take flight in helicopters and unleash “large-scale destruction” on the iconic buildings in the area.
New Sobek City
Welcome to Egypt! But you may not like your stay in New Sobek City as the outskirts of Cairo are transformed into a war zone. Tanks, helicopters, and infantry are all in play as the battle rages across the sand dunes.
Siege of Cairo
The battle goes deeper into the city in the Siege of Cairo map, and now it’s even more dangerous as players contend with infantry and tanks while weaving in and out of buildings. It’s urban combat on a large scale.
Saints Quarter
Saints Quarter is set in Gibraltar’s Old Town for an infantry-only fight in and around some very destructible buildings. Close-quarters combat is the order of the day.
Iberian Offensive
The battle for Gibraltar continues in Iberian Offensive, where the best way to win is to secure a tactical advantage as soon as possible. To do so, players will have to contend with infantry and heavily-armored tanks.
Mirak Valley
Mirak Valley is said to be the biggest map available at launch for Battlefield 6. Get ready for all-out war as every vehicle in the game is at your fingertips in this battle.
Operation Firestorm
Battlefield 3 fans should recognize the classic Operation Firestorm map. Jets, helicopters, tanks, and infantry forces will collide as opposing forces attempt to seize control of a burning oil field.
