Obsidian’s Honey-I-Shrunk-The-Kids-style game has returned with Grounded 2, and there are even more creatures to discover in the world. Some are peaceful bugs, and other creepy creatures are trying to kill you at all times. Here we list all the new and returning creatures found in Grounded 2.
For tips on how to survive in the world, make sure to check out our complete Grounded 2 guides hub. This includes guides on how to upgrade weapons and armor, how to unlock Mutations, and more.
New bugs in Grounded 2
- Cockroach Nymph
- Praying Mantis Nymph
- Northern Scorpion
- Blue Butterfly
- Caterpillar
- Garden Snail
You can get a look at each new creature in the images below, as well as some of the returning bugs and variants.
Cockroach nymph
Large roaches return from the first game, but Grounded 2 has added smaller Cockroach Nymphs. Both variants can be found all over the map, but they are especially prominent near the Trash Can POI and other locations with food bits like apple cores or donut pieces.
Like real-world roaches, the Cockroach Nymphs can seemingly survive it all. They are resistant to gas, Fresh (cold) effect, Spicy (burn) effect, and venom. They don’t have any weaknesses, but you can kill them with good ol’ brute force. You can use ranged bow attacks or get in close with a melee weapon.
Praying Mantis Nymph
The new mantis is definitely one of the more terrifying new bugs added to the game’s lineup. Thankfully, they’re not common creatures on the map. So far, they mostly seem to hang around the Statue POI.
The Praying Mantis Nymph is resistant to smashing, stabbing, and spicy (burn) effects. This mantis is weak to Fresh (cold) effects and slashing. Its weak point is the eyes. If you want to fight this creature from a safer range, you can always use Fresh arrows and aim for the eyes.
Northern Scorpion
Grounded 2 features Scorpions. These are Northern Scorpions that come in full-size terror as well as smaller versions called Northern Scorplings. These are found all around the map. They usually hide out in dirt areas, hidden mostly underground, and they’ll pop out when you get close. They are purple-grey in color, so you can usually spot a bit of purple sticking out of the dirt if you’re looking around cautiously.
Both versions of the Northern Scorpion are resistant to Fresh (cold) effect, slashing, and venom. However, they are both weak to smashing. The massive Northern Scorpions also have two important weak points to know: the stinger and rump area. Teammates and/or a buggy can be helpful here, as someone can distract the scorpion while you swing a club at their weak backside.
Grounded 2’s Blue Butterfly is beautiful, but don’t let these creatures fool you. They aren’t as fragile as you’d expect, and they boast powerful freeze attacks.
The Blue Butterfly is resistant to Smashing from clubs and the game’s cold “Fresh” effect. However, they are weak to slashing and the spicy burn effects.
Caterpillar
The Caterpillar is huge, but this is a passive creature who pretty much just minds their business unless you straight up attack them. The Caterpillar is usually found hanging high up on leaves or large branches. This creature doesn’t have any resistances and weaknesses, and if you’re like me, you’ll feel awful killing them for resources.
Garden Snail
Much like the Caterpillar, the Garden Snail is just a passive creature who wants to be left alone. Snails will retreat inside their shell if you attack, so it may take some patience taking this creature down. There are two variants: the Garden Snail and a smaller Baby Garden Snail. They don’t have any resistances, but they are weak to Fresh (cold) and salty effects. The weak point for both versions is the eyes.
O.R.C. variants of bugs
Several spiders and bugs are being controlled by a “mysterious person” and feature a transmitter device on their head. These devices on the O.R.C. enemies give off a purple glow and beep when you get close. These enemies tend to have beefier health, and they’ll drop additional bug parts to use in crafting. O.R.C. bugs seem to be universally aggressive and territorial, attacking you on sight if you get close to them.
