A brand-new HD-2D action-RPG from Square Enix has been announced for the Switch 2 during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is set to release during 2026, but a demo will be available later today followed by a post-play survey to get feedback from players.
The game follows the story of Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie, as they travel across Philabeldia–a continent overrun by tribes of beasts, while a protection spell keeps the Kingdom of Huther safe. After a set of ruins is discovered beyond the castle walls, Elliot and Faie head out to investigate.
Elliot and Faie face multiple challenging battles fought with swords, bows, chains and sickles, and more. There are seven weapon types in total, but you can strengthen those by equipping different combinations of Magicite–collections of skills and buffs that alter the way you fight.
Faie is more useful than a simple companion. She can fight and collect items, and in single-player mode you can choose to control her or Elliot at any time. Two players can control one character each in multiplayer mode.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales launches on Switch 2 consoles in 2026. You can catch up with all of the Nintendo Direct announcements in our dedicated gallery, too.
