Whether it’s a name that has carried with you for decades, or simply something fun and whimsical you came up with a week ago, your nickname is how people can identify you on your Nintendo Switch 2. So, if your friends want to play a game with you, or even just check out your play activity, they’ll be looking for your nickname on their friend list. But what if you want to change your Switch 2 nickname?

Luckily, changing your nickname on Switch 2 is a quick and easy process–if you know where to look for the option. And even better, it won’t have any major impact on your profile, meaning that your friends will still be able to find you the same way they always have. You’ll just want to be sure to tell them your new name, of course.

Regardless of how you choose to go about editing your nickname, keep in mind that Switch 2 nicknames are limited to just 10 characters, so you may need to abbreviate any longer usernames. Or, you know, just use your first name if you don’t mind folks knowing it. You’ll figure it out!
