How to unlock Temper Accupoints in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – Bone Needles and Stone Needles guide

You unlock the Temper Acupoints mechanic fairly early in the campaign. You just need to defeat the first main boss–the Man-Eating Dutanga–in Lightzen Temple. Once the boss has been taken out, you’ll receive the following:

  • Temper menu is unlocked at Shrines.
  • Yanchi Acupoint–i.e. first slot.
  • Bone Needle: Flame – Boosts your weapon’s fire attack power and enables it to cause Burn buildup.

How to unlock Acupoints and Bone Needles via the skill tree

The Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Temper Acupoints unlock can be done via a Shrine’s Impetus Repository–i.e. skill tree. Take a look at the left-hand side of the screen to see these perks/nodes:

  • Alteration – These unlock additional Acupoint slots. Most of these require Red Mercury only, though the last one at the far-left requires a Cyan Feather Chisel. We don’t want to spoil all the details, but you can acquire it much later in the game.
  • Rapid Temperance and related nodes – These perks unlock additional Bone Needles that cause weapons to inflict status effects. These include Poise Break, Lightning/Paralysis, Frostbite, Corruption, and Blight.
  • Fury of the Skyborn and related nodes – These perks have various utility effects, including magic boosts, lifesteal, and Feathering potency.

How to equip Bone Needles and Stone Needles

You can equip Stone Needles and Bone Needles in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers via a Shrine’s Temper menu. There, you’ll see the Acupoint slots that are available:

  • Bone Needles – The aforementioned Bone Needles unlocked via the skill tree can be equipped in the Yangchi Acupoint. Only one Bone Needle can be active at any given time.
  • Stone Needles – Stone Needles, meanwhile, come from Inner Demons that spawn in specific areas. These Stone Needles can be socketed into the remaining Acupoints.

Note that you should always check if Bone Needles or Stone Needles are compatible with the weapon that you’re wielding. Some weapons gain a boost if the Temper option matches their elemental or status effect trait.
