Are you excited to learn new techniques from the Pizza Chef in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach? This particular NPC might seem like an average fella, until you learn the truth about him. But, that’s going to take a bit of effort, so sit back and relax as we outline all the steps.
How to unlock the Pizza Chef techniques in Death Stranding 2
You’re going to meet the Pizza Chef sooner or later in your playthrough. That’s because going to his location is actually part of the main story. Specifically, this occurs when you receive Order 24: Deliver Beach Yeast to the Pizza Chef. Completing this task does net you a few hundred likes, but it might not be enough to reach the required level.
How to increase your connection rank with the Pizza Chef
Similar to other NPCs/facilities, you can increase your connection rank with the Pizza Chef in Death Stranding 2 by completing orders and delivering lost cargo. Here’s a quick summary:
- Lost cargo containers with the “Pizza Chef” tag are usually found near the central-to-eastern portion of the map. You can also pick up lost cargo shared by other players in facilities.
- Certain NPCs/facilities, such as the Architect and Data Scientist, might have delivery orders for the Pizza Chef.
- There are two notable sub-orders: “Recover one or more empty pizza containers from the Armed Survivalists” and “Return the Pizza Chef’s misanga.” These items can be found in the Armed Survivalist base due north of the Pizza Chef’s facility.
What’s behind the Pizza Chef’s door
Once you’ve hit connection rank 2 with the Pizza Chef, you’ll notice that something is amiss. At this point, you should go down the steps behind the terminal and follow the narrow walkway. Upon approaching the door, two Ghost Mechs will attack you. You may opt for electricity-infused weapons to make quick work of them, but any weapon that’s effective against mechs should be fine.
After defeating the two enemies, open the door and watch the cutscene. We don’t want to spoil what happens next, but it’s one of the most over-the-top and ridiculous moments in the game.
Pizza Chef Pizza-Do techniques and rewards
At this stage, you should be able to unlock the Death Stranding 2 Pizza Chef techniques by increasing your connection rank further:
- Connection Rank 2:
- Rubber Pizza – Can be thrown as a weapon; knocks out enemies if you land a headshot.
- Secrets of Pizza-Do Acrobatic Karate: Striking – Lets you perform the Great Spinning Pizza Strike.
- Connection Rank 3:
- Machine Gun [MP] Level 2
- Secrets of Pizza-Do Acrobatic Karate: Kicking – Lets you perform the Pizza Whirlwind Kick.
- Connection Rank 4:
- Knitted Cap – If equipped, it’d be harder for Sam to lose consciousness.
- Secrets of Pizza-Do Acrobatic Karate: Slamming – Lets you perform the Great Spinning Pizza Slam.
- Connection Rank 5:
- Pizza Chef’s Suit
- Pizza Chef’s Boots
- Pizza Chef’s Hat
- Custom Hologram: The Pizza Chef
- Backpack Patch 10: Pizza Atami
Note that the Pizza-Do techniques are melee abilities that can be used in combat by holding either/both shoulder buttons and pressing Circle. These moves are flashy and effective against humanoid opponents.
The Pizza Chef’s secret code: Live rounds
Last but not least, you should check out the Pizza Chef’s SSS post, where he tells you about a secret code:
- Hold right on the D-pad and pick a valid firearm.
- Press L2 + R2 + Circle simultaneously and hold these buttons for a couple of seconds.
- This will cause your gun to switch from MP ammo to live rounds for your gun, allowing you to kill human enemies instead of incapacitating them. That said, you need to dispose of enemy corpses to prevent a Voidout from occurring.
