The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a roller coaster ride of highs and lows in the post-Avengers: Endgame world. The MCU experienced one of those now-common lows with Captain America: Brave New World in February. Thankfully, the Avengers* were gearing up to remind fans that there are still plenty of uncharted areas in the MCU for Disney to mine. Thunderbolts, also know as The New Avengers, may not have been a massive commercial success, but the entertaining action movie starring a group of foul-mouthed antiheroes was widely praised by critics. It’s the highest-rated Marvel movie in nearly four years on Rotten Tomatoes, and soon you can own a collectible 4K Blu-ray edition.
Thunderbolts Limited Edition Steelbook is available to preorder for $45 at Amazon and Walmart. If you don’t mind watching the movie in 1080p resolution, Walmart has an exclusive Blu-ray edition with Pop-up artwork. Thunderbolts releases on 4K and standard Blu-ray on July 29.
We’ve outlined each physical edition below. After checking out the upcoming Blu-ray release, take a look at our roundup of Thunderbolts comic collection deals at the bottom of this story.
Thunderbolts Limited Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray)
$45 | Releases July 29
The Limited Edition Steelbook for Thunderbolts features a group photo of The New Avengers–Black Widow, Red Guardian, Bucky, US Agent, the Ghost, and Bob–on the back of the case. The front cover alludes to film’s edgier tone with an overhead shot of their guns, bullets, a knife, and a heavily scratched shield that pays homage to the iconic Captain America shield.
The large yellow asterisk in the middle of the table references the film’s identity as both Thunderbolts and The New Avengers. The back of the case actually refers to it as *The New Avengers, but the official title is Thunderbolts*. The inside of both covers is a little more chaotic, as it features the gang doing their best Zoolander Blue Steel poses and at each other’s throats.
The Steelbook Edition comes with 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and digital copies of the film. You’ll also get all three formats if you purchase the standard 4K edition. Amazon’s price is much higher than Walmart’s for the standard 4K Blu-ray at the moment, but it will likely drop to match the competition soon. You won’t be charged for your preorder until it ships and will get any discounts offered before then.

Thunderbolts Pop-up Edition (Blu-ray)
$30 | Walmart Exclusive
Just like with Deadpool and Wolverine last year, Walmart has an exclusive 1080p Blu-ray for Thunderbolts that includes a cardboard sleeve and pop-up artwork. Once again, the artwork shows the New Avengers fighting alongside and with one another. But thanks to the pop-up book-style packaging, the antiheroes are leaping from the page into the third dimension.
You can preorder the Walmart-exclusive Blu-ray edition for $30. Alternatively, there’s a standard edition for $25. Like the 4K edition, Amazon’s current price ($41) can essentially be viewed as a placeholder. Both 1080p Blu-ray editions come with a digital code.

Thunderbolts tells the story of Marvel’s B-team of heroes, has-beens, could-have-beens, and poor replacements for Earth’s mightiest heroes due to their checkered–and downright criminal–pasts. Initially at odds after they’re set up to kill each other, the antiheroes find themselves bonding and uniting to take down a major threat, even if the world considers them to be the Temu version of the Avengers.
Loved the film? Check out the Thunderbolts Comic Collections

Thunderbolts fans who haven’t read any of Marvel’s comic book arcs starring the unruly superhero team have a lot to pick from. Marvel recently released several collections to capitalize on the momentum of the film, including The Saga of Winter Soldier and The Saga of Yelena Belova. While the Thunderbolts roster has changed frequently over the years, the new Worldstrike trade paperback features a team that reflects the squad from the movies, and focuses on Bucky’s attempts to bring justice to the world with his team of black-ops heavy-hitters.
The other incarnations of Thunderbolts also make for great reading, as the teams have typically been made up of Marvel’s worst villains. The Dark Reign Thunderbolts team is an especially good read, as it follows Norman Osborn and his Thunderbolts as they work to secure the former Green Goblin’s grip on power.

Naturally, Funko released a collection of new vinyl figures featuring each member of the New Avengers. If you’re a Funko Pop collector, check out all five of the new ones at Amazon. We sorted them into one hub, so you won’t have to wade through a sea of unrelated Marvel Funko Pops.
The Art of Thunderbolts releases soon, too
Lastly, an official Thunderbolts art book is in the works and will ship a few weeks after the 4K Blu-ray release. You can preorder The Art of Thunderbolts for $100 at Amazon ahead of its August 26 publication date. The premium art book is packaged in a display-worthy slipcase and comes with exclusive lithographs. Like other books in The Art of Marvel Studios series, the 224-page oversized hardcover contains a gallery of never-before-seen artwork and in-depth interviews with the creative team.
