The upcoming Metroid Prime retrospective book has been delayed from June 24 to October 28. Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective was unveiled last fall by Piggyback, a strategy guide publisher perhaps best known for its gorgeous Legend of Zelda guidebooks. You can preorder Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective for $46.49 at Amazon. If you preorder now, you’ll be eligible for any future discounts Amazon offers prior to release.

The book’s initial Summer 2025 release window caused some fans to think Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would launch around the same time. After all, it makes sense to release the book near the launch of the new game. So with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond’s release date still up in the air beyond a vague 2025 window, it’s unsurprising that the publication date of the 212-page hardcover book has been rescheduled. At this point, if Metroid Prime 4 indeed arrives this year on Switch 2 and Switch, a fall/holiday launch seems likely.

The clothbound hardcover book has a stitched binding and etched metallic foil cover art featuring Samus Aran’s iconic Varia suit. Piggyback is using high-quality, sheet-fed art paper to showcase the concept art and sketches from the development of the original Metroid Prime (2002), Prime 2: Echoes (2004), Prime 3: Corruption (2007), and Metroid Prime Remastered (2023).

Along with the artwork, the book contains commentary from Retro Studios developers, including Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe.

As mentioned, Piggyback previously produced stunning strategy guides for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
