Mundfish has revealed Atomic Heart II, a sequel to its 2023 action-adventure shooter set in a retrofuturistic alternate-history universe. With a tagline, “The truth runs deeper than you think,” Mundfish promises expanded RPG systems, a new story with returning characters and brand new ones, and an enhanced combat system. There’s no release date for the game, but it will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in the future.
Atomic Heart II was revealed during the Summer Game Fest showcase today, and the reveal trailer highlights that the events of the first game have expanded to a global scale in the sequel. “In this utopian world of wonders and perfection, humans lived in harmony with their loyal and fervent robots,” a press release reads. “However, what was meant to bring about an era of peace and prosperity at the hands of advanced robotics and AI, has spiraled into chaos. Atomic Heart II picks up with a world on the brink of collapse. It’s up to you to prevent it.”
