Another Nintendo Direct kicked off today, and this time, the spotlight was on the smaller games headed to Switch 2 and Switch consoles. While we’ve already had Directs dedicated to Pokemon and third-party publishers, the Indie World Showcase was focused on smaller games.
Still, some of these look like a great fit for Switch hardware, and several of them are out right now. Sadly, the Hollow Knight: Silksong summoning circle failed us yet again as there was no sign of Team Cherry’s upcoming game, but with Gamescom around the corner and playable versions of it confirmed for the Xbox and Nintendo booths, we’re expecting some news on it later this month.
In case you missed the Indie World Showcase, here’s everything that was announced during the 15-minute runtime.
Mina the Hollower
Kicking things off was a new trailer for Mina the Hollower. The game launches on October 31, and you can grab a demo for it right now on the eShop.
Well Dweller
Well Dweller looks like another great game starring a crow, and it features a creepy art direction that makes it stand out. It’ll be coming to Switch in 2026.
Neverway
Described as a nightmarish life-simulator RPG, Neverway puts you in the boots of Fiona, who starts a new life on a farm and becomes the immortal herald of a dead god. It’ll be coming to Switch in 2026.
Herdling
The brand-new adventure from Far developer Okomotive, Herdling combines an epic trip up a mountain summit with managing a herd of adorably fluffy beasts. This will be out soon on August 21 for Switch.
Is This Seat Taken?
Out now for Switch, Is This Seat Taken? tasks you with putting your spatial skills to the test by deciding who sits where. It’s a job easier said than done, as you’ll have to match people and personalities in locations like a cinema, a crowded bus, a wedding reception, and a cramped taxicab.
Little Kitty, Big City: Picture Perfect update
One of the best games starring an adorable cat–a genre we’ll nevergrow tired of–Little Kitty, Big City is getting some fresh DLC. The Picture Perfect update adds new parts of the neighborhood to explore, even more hats to try on, a photo mode, and cosmetic options to help you create the perfect kitty–which is obviously a calico.
Content Warning
Content Warning is coming to Switch 2 and Switch in 2026, and this is a game that’s all about chasing fame. To go viral, you’ll be filming spooky content with your friends so that you can hit your view quota–if you survive a run-in with supernatural fiends, that is.
Ball X Pit
A fast-paced fantasy roguelite inspired by games like Loop Hero and Vampire Survivors, Ball X Pit challenges you to find balls and explore a seemingly bottomless pit of monsters. Along the way you’ll unlock skills that can be used to develop arcane ammunition and resources, recruiting additional heroes to join your cause, and claim treasure. The Switch 2 edition of the game will be out later this year, and it’ll be released for Switch on October 15.
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon–a bike-racing game that looks like film director Wes Anderson’s take on Excite Bike–is coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
Glaciered
Set 65 million years in the future after a freak weather event transformed the Earth’s surface into a gigantic sheet of ice, Glaciered puts you in the boots of the Tuai as they explore a mysterious underwater world. While ferocious marine creatures are a major hazard, the power of the Tuai’s avian and dinosaur bloodlines can be unlocked to help you fight past these creatures and protect the planet. Glaciered will be coming to Switch 2 as a timed exclusive later this year.
Winter Burrow
Another game with a cold-weather theme, Winter Burrow is all about surviving the harshest time of the year and rebuilding your childhood home–also, you’re a mouse. Developed by Pine Creek Games, this cozy little adventure heads to Switch later this year.
Tiny Bookshop
In case you missed it in our look at all the games launching in August, Tiny Bookshop is out now. A game about providing quality literature to avid readers, you can check it out on Switch.
Caves of Qud
Roguelike game Caves of Qud is coming to Switch later this year, and if you haven’t checked it out on other platforms, then you missed out on a fun sci-fi adventure. Combining retro-futuristic aesthetics, it explores civilization across thousands of years as you work to discover if the planet is dying or preparing for a rebirth.
Strange Antiquities
Serve patrons in your cozy shop, walk down the streets of a small town, and discover dark secrets in Strange Antiquities when it launches for Switch on September 17.
Opus: Prism Peak
Opus: Prism Peak is out later this year, and it looks like it could be a charming narrative-driven adventure game. As a world-weary photographer caught outside of reality, you’ll use your trusty camera to explore a strange realm and find your way home.
UFO 50
Demonschool
We’ve been looking forward to Demonschool, a stylish tactical-RPG, ever since it was announced, and the game now has a confirmed release date of September 3 for Switch.
Undusted: Letters from the Past
A new trailer for Undusted: Letters from the Past showed off a quick look at the cleaning game. An exploration of the past through dusty family mementos, it launches for Switch in October.
Go-Go-Town
A timed exclusive for Switch, Go-Go-Town gives you all the tools you need to transform a rundown tourist destination back into a bustling and functional city. It launches for Switch in Spring 2026.
