As part of the Pokemon Presents presentation, The Pokemon Company announced a brand-new Pokemon game for Switch 2, and you don’t have to wait to play it.
Pokemon Friends is a new puzzle game out now that aims to “help untangle your mind.” Players solve random puzzles and place the yarn they earn into a “Plush-O-Matic” to get an in-game Pokemon plush.
“As you try to make them all, you can track your crafted plush in the catalog. You can also mark your calendar with a stamp each day you play, and then go back and practice the puzzles you played on those days,” reads a line from the game’s description.
Players will also encounter strangers in the game world who will ask you to bring them a specific plush. Completing these quests unlocks those plushes and increases your friendship level with townsfolk. “Grateful townspeople will give rewards, including furniture, which you can use to decorate your in-game plush rooms,” the game’s description says.
Pokemon Friends is also available on mobile devices as a free download, but on Switch and Switch 2, it’s available for $10 from the eShop. This includes the Basic Pack, which comes with 30 puzzles, 70 craftable plushies, and 11 yarn types. There are more microtransactions, too, including Puzzle Packs 1 and 2, which add more puzzles to the game. They cost $15 on their own or $26 in a bundle with both.
The announcement of Pokemon Friends came during the Pokemon Presents broadcast, which also featured numerous other announcements, including more details on a real-like Pokemon park. Check out the gallery below to get a rundown of all the major announcements.
