Earlier this year, Rebel Wolves–the developer co-founded by The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz–unveiled its inaugural game, The Blood of Dawnwalker. This title casts players into a medieval world ruled by vampires. But as the title character, Coen, players can fight back with vampire powers of their own as demonstrated in the newly released Xbox Games Showcase trailer.
This action-RPG is set during the 14th century in a kingdom called Vale Sangora, two years after the vampires seized control. The arrival of Brencis and his vampire followers saved Coen and his plague-infected sister, Lunka, from execution. But their salvation has come at a high cost. The vampires now rule the kingdom with an iron fist, and Coen has been partially turned into a vampire himself.
Coen’s transformation is incomplete because of his silver poisoning. As a dawnwalker, he becomes human during the day and regains his vampire abilities at night. The trailer demonstrates some of the powers that come with Coen’s vampire side, including the ability to walk up the side of a building and his enhanced strength. However, it doesn’t seem like he retains the same powers during the day.
The Blood of Dawnwalker only gives Coen 30 days and 30 nights to save his family from a dire fate. Players have to choose how to spend that time, including selecting side missions and which allies to recruit against the vampires. Not everyone in Vale Sangora is against the regime, even if they have to pay a blood tax for their “protection.”
Bandai Namco will release The Blood of Dawnwalker on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2026.
