When it comes to video games, Twisted Metal and Captain America actor Anthony Mackie prefers the classics over newer titles.
During a visit to the Twisted Metal set in Toronto, Mackie told GameSpot he doesn’t enjoy modern games that involve running and gunning. Instead, he goes for games like Ms. Pac Man and The Simpsons Arcade Game.
In fact, when GameSpot spoke to Mackie in August 2024, he’d recently bought an original Simpsons Arcade Game machine.
“I found a dude; he was like, ‘If you buy it and it breaks, I will come to your house and fix it,'” Mackie said. “Old games like that, I love. I’m an old pinball head. I really like old-school Atari and Nintendo games. I can’t get into the new [stuff]. I’m 45. I’m not that angry.”
Twisted Metal is Peacock and Sony Pictures’ adaptation of Sony’s Twisted Metal game series. Sweet Tooth actor Samoa Joe said he’s played all the Twisted Metal games, and cited 2001’s Twisted Metal Black as his favorite for its “dark” and “cool” tone, in addition to the music.
Samoa Joe said he still plays video games today, and in a highly relatable comment, said his Steam library is “way too big” and he hasn’t gotten anywhere close to addressing his backlog.
“Yeah, it’s gross,” he said, adding that a “major” publisher gave him a code that enabled him to play every game of theirs on Steam. “I’ll get around to playing Fire Engine Simulator 4000 at some point,” he joked.
Twisted Metal Season 2 premieres July 31 on Peacock.
Sony Pictures Television paid for GameSpot’s flight and accommodation to Toronto to see the Twisted Metal Season 2 set and speak with the cast and crew.
