Twisted Metal Season 2 debuts this week on Peacock, and while Season 1 contained a number of high-octane action set pieces, Season 2 goes even further. Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Quiet, said fans can expect “really insane” action befitting the Twisted Metal name for Season 2. She also teased a Season 2 heist episode in which she was naked for a day.

“Season one, we had … maybe three big, big action episodes,” Beatriz said in a roundtable interview attended by GameSpot during a trip to the Twisted Metal set in Toronto “And I would say there are maybe five or six action episodes [in Season 2]. The stunts are really insane. It’s a lot of practical stunts this time around. It’s a lot more time spent in cars and and it’s a lot of time seeing Quiet as a driver.”

The heist episode

Beatriz starred on NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Detective Rosa Diaz, and among the most memorable parts of that show were its Halloween-themed heist episodes. Twisted Metal Season 2 has a big heist episode, and while it’s “for sure” not similar to what fans saw on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Beatriz said fans can look forward to an “absolutely manic, fucking ridiculous, bananas, off-the-wall” episode. “How do I even describe it?” she said.

“I’ll say this: there was probably like a day and a half where I was like, mostly naked,” she added. “So there was, like, shit blowing up, there was a hall on fire. There was you know, just running through mostly abandoned buildings, trying to not get hit over the head with missiles. It was shenanigans.”

The main theme of Season 2 is the vehicular-combat tournament organized by Calypso (Anthony Carrigan), and prior to the tournament, Quiet and other tournament participants are doing whatever they can to upgrade their cars to give them the best chance. And in a post-apocalyptic world, stealing is a solid option.

“You want your car to be as ready to go as possible. But how do you get weapons in this world if you don’t have money? How do you get them? Well, you steal them,” she said.

Twisted Metal Season 2 premieres July 31 on Peacock.

Sony Pictures Television paid for GameSpot’s flight and accommodation to Toronto to see the Twisted Metal Season 2 set and speak with the cast and crew.
