Earlier this month, Lego released four new Minecraft building sets that are exclusive to its own storefront and Walmart. One of those sets is based on Minecraft’s most recognizable mascot: The Creeper. The 665-piece buildable figure of the iconic mob sold out on launch day at both retailers, but it’s back in stock and available to ship now. The Creeper Lego set is only $40, which is pretty great value considering the brick count. You can check out all four of the recently released Minecraft Lego sets below.
New Walmart & Lego Store-Exclusive Minecraft Building Sets:
- Lego Minecraft: The Creeper (665 pieces) — $40
- Lego Minecraft: The Pickaxe Mine (530 pieces) — $55
- Lego Minecraft: The TNT Jungle House (287 pieces) — $30
- Lego Minecraft: The Warden Encounter (238 pieces) — $20
While all four of the new sets are exclusive to Walmart and the Lego Store, the upcoming Minecraft Advent Calendar will likely be available at all retailers when it launches September 1. It’s not available to preorder yet, but considering the success of A Minecraft Movie and the popularity of Lego’s Advent Calendars in general, you’ll probably want to snag one as close to launch as possible.
Lego released a bunch of other new sets beyond Minecraft this month. Give the full collection a look to find sets inspired by The Simpsons, The Lord of the Rings, Sherlock Holmes, and more.
Lego Minecraft: The Creeper (665 pieces)
$40 | Walmart + Lego Exclusive
At 665 pieces, the Lego Minecraft: The Creeper model is the largest of the new Minecraft sets. The completed Creeper stands over 8 inches tall, has movable legs and head, and comes with a hidden compartment large enough to hide a TNT brick and a figure of the first iteration of the Creeper–which looks a bit like a pig.
The Creeper sold out on launch day earlier this month, but it’s back in stock at Walmart and the Lego Store.
Lego Minecraft: The Pickaxe Mine (530 pieces)
$55 at Lego | $60 at Walmart
This interactive playset includes rocks hiding mineable ore blocks, a movable minecart, and a TNT block you can load into the cart to blow through certain walls. The set includes minifigures of Alex, a Miner, and a spider jockey.
Like the Creeper, The Pickaxe Mine is exclusive to the Lego Store and Walmart, though it’s five bucks cheaper on the Lego Store at the moment.
Lego Minecraft: The TNT Jungle House (287 pieces)
$30 | Walmart + Lego Exclusive
This small 287-piece playset gets you minifigures for Steve, a Creeper, and a zombie, giving you plenty of opportunities to stage your own battles. The set also includes a fishing rod accessory for Steve, and there’s a pet parrot to keep him company. Like other Minecraft sets, the TNT Jungle House has interactive elements–in this case, it can be manually exploded, thanks to a trigger that sets its roof and walls sailing.
Lego Minecraft: The Warden Encounter (238 pieces)
$20 | Walmart + Lego Exclusive
At just 238 pieces, The Warden Encounter playset is a good size for new builders. This is another interactive set based on the Warden boss fight from the video game, featuring a giant posable Warden figure and a trap that drops blocks onto characters below. There are also figures of Silent Ranger and a chicken, plus a bunch of accessories like diamonds, amethysts, and a TNT block that can be manually triggered to blow up surrounding blocks.
Beyond these three new releases, there are plenty of existing Lego Minecraft sets to peruse. Many of these are even on sale. The Badlands Mineshaft is a great option if you’re seeking a large playset, as the 538-piece set features minifigures for a Badlands Explorer, Creeper, cave spider, husk, baby rabbit, donkey, two slimes, and a bat–giving you plenty of options to recreate your in-game adventures. For something smaller, Steve’s Desert Expedition is just $9. And at just 75 pieces, builders of all skill levels should have no problem snapping it together.
